Montecito Luxury Real Estate

A New Golden Age

Homes have a way of finding their soulmates. And timing is everything.

For 204 Hot Springs Road, that has been true for more than a century.

Built in 1921 by architect Arthur B. Benton, this romantic villa was the home of Montecito philanthropist Lady Leslie Ridley-Tree for 35 years.

In 2020, she gifted the estate to the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, which later sold it to architectural conservator Xorin Balbes, a close friend of Lady Leslie and longtime admirer of the property.

Balbes restored and renovated the estate, preserving its architectural character while preparing it for the next century.

This summer, timing took over.

Buyers who had seen the home years earlier and never forgotten it came back in July. Within a month, the property was sold.

An exceptional home. The perfect match. The right time.

More than a century after its story began, 204 Hot Springs Road has entered a new golden age.
