How’s the Market?

Buyer’s remorse versus NOT buying remorse.

Lately, I am hearing from more and more people about the house they wished they’d bought — it’s a collective recognition that prices aren’t coming down because there aren’t enough properties and we all wish we had bought “before.” We have not buying remorse! According to a recent article in The Atlantic, 15 years ago there were 2.2 million homes for sale, today there are less than 750,000 and the population has grown by 30 million people.

We are heading into what is typically the slowest time of the year for real estate, however, the holidays may be a good time to put your house on the market and attract eager buyers. Montecito real estate is a niche market so the numbers are harder to track, but if the last few weeks are any indication, buyers are out looking to purchase a home and the holidays are not holding them back.

Last week in Montecito, there was 1 New Listing, 5 Closed Sales and 1 Pending Sale. There are a total of 45 Active listings in Montecito, and several have been on the market more than 6 months. Now is the time to visit or revisit some great properties and avoid having not buying remorse!
