Wellness Meets Momentum
Wellness real estate has become the fastest-growing sector in the $6.3 trillion global wellness economy. According to the Global Wellness Institute, it grew from $225B in 2019 to $548B in 2024, and it's on track to hit $1.1 trillion by 2029.
These properties, designed with health, sustainability, and quality of life in mind are now commanding 10–25% higher sale prices and dominate the luxury sector.
We've seen this shift take root for some time in Montecito and Santa Barbara. These standout sales highlight how buyers are prioritizing homes that foster connection to health, nature, and overall quality of life.
956 Mariposa Lane sold for $30,000,000 in January 2025, up 241% from its 2021 sale. The estate features wellness-forward upgrades including a private gym and tennis pavilion.
849 Ashley Road, which closed at $10,600,000 in May of 2025 includes a cedar hot tub, gym space, pool, and access to hiking trails; all supporting a more active, nature-connected lifestyle.
770 San Ysidro Road, sold for $13,500,000 in December 2024, up from $5,000,000 in 2019, features an infrared sauna, home gym, pool and spa, media room, and a well-appointed office, blending retreat-like amenities with everyday functionality.
The Global Wellness Institute points to emerging priorities: climate-resilient design, wellness and sensory-driven spaces, and inclusive housing models.
Turns out wellness isn't just good for the soul, it’s a smart business.
